YORKSHIRE LASSES
YLtv Production- broadcasted March 28th
THE BRIEF
We have been
set the task of producing a 5-minute TV programme. We are going to produce
Yorkshire Lasses which is a young adult drama focusing on four main teenage
girls and the various aspects of their life.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target
audience for this soap opera will be mainly of a female gender, between the
ages of 16 and 25. This is due to the main characters of the show being of this
gender and age, therefore meaning that they will be relatable and have similar
issues to the viewers. The NRS social grade of the target audience will be
ABC1C2; this is because the topics and genre of the show can appeal to a large
range of people, but with more of a focus on the lower middle class due to the
accents, location and issues raised etc. The show will also be open to attract
a variety of ethnicities.
SEGMENT SYNOPSIS AND HOW IT RELATES TO THE BRIEF
The first
episode begins in a nail bar with the four girls and Cheryl begins to explain
the issues with her boyfriend Carl and affair Jeremy. It then cuts back to the
nail bar where the girls discuss more of their problems, including Amy’s
stressful conversation with Ryan. This links to the brief as it has plenty of
drama included in it and focuses on the lives of the four main characters.

We will do
recce sheets and risk assessments for each of the locations to ensure that no
harm can be caused to any of the team members, including the actors. We also
needs to ensure that the equipment being used in each location will be safe and
at no chance of damage.
LEGAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Within the TV episode we will make sure that no offence is caused to anyone of any race, gender, ethnicity or sexuality. We will use language that is suitable for all genders, ethnicities, sexualities and race, therefore causing no reason for any legal or ethical issues included in the show.
Any music used in the show will be copyrighted or able to use
without any copyright issues. We will be using the website
audionetwork.lgfl.org.uk for the theme music and some other music included in
the TV show as it is a website that allows you to use the music on it for free.
Finally we will need consent forms for everyone that will
star in the show so that they agree to our terms and conditions, therefore
preventing any legal and ethical issues when it comes to the consent of the
actors/actresses. We will also need consent forms for certain locations, for
example the nail bar; we will need a consent form from whoever is in charge of
the business.

I) Legal and ethical issues:
The content within Yorkshire lasses doesn't really cause a problem with regards to the Ofcom rules and regulations, there is no excessive foul language and it does not display or glamourise excessive violence. This production would fall under Section one: Protecting under eighteens, the principle of this is to ensure that people who are under eighteen are protected. One of the things that we would need to consider is the scheduling time, if the content in Yorkshire lasses is not appropriate for children then it will have to shown after the watershed. The watershed starts at 9pm and this is where any material that is unsuitable for children can be broadcasted on TV. However the relatively mild nature of Yorkshire lasses means that it can be played before the watershed. In one of the scenes in Yorkshire lasses it will show the use of alcohol, since Yorkshire lasses is targeted towards people who are in the age range of 16 - 25 the use of alcohol is permitted in some of the scenes.
