LO2: Rushes.

Yorkshire Lasses is fit for purpose as it is similar to the traditional soap opera TV shows. I think that the intend target audience for the show would be happy to watch the show because there are many aspects of the show that can be relatable to their own lives and especially the character of the show. The show would be best scheduled for after the watershed so any time from 9pm onwards and this is because some of the content in the show would be inappropriate for children to see and only teens and adults would understand some of the situations that are present in the show. Also, there are a number of soap operas that shown at that time.
From looking at all of the rushes they show that we have followed the conventions of a drama/soap opera. It shows the purpose as these rushes convey soap opera and there conventions such as the camera work. The close up shots in the show fit the genre because they capture the emotions of all the characters. The shot reverse shots in Yorkshire Lasses show a conversation between two people, from this you can read the situation, like if there is tension or intimacy between the two. This also fits the genre of a teen drama as it includes some of the lives teens and their attitude. In terms of mise-en-scene we used high key lighting to connote that it was day time, this is also used to show mood at a particular scene like in the nail bar where it is quite friendly and relaxed. Background music was also used in Yorkshire lasses and this was to help connote the mood, one example of this is in the nail bar. The music is not is quite upbeat and not too prominent.

LO2: Rushes.

nb27-
This clip is from a section of the nail bar scene where the girls are talking about Amy and Ryan. I think that the framing of the clip is really good as you can fully see Hayley, Hannah and Jenny, and the over the shoulder shot of Bella is done correctly. The audio of Bella is slightly muffled due to her facing away but most of it is perfectly audible.

nb26-
This clip is the same as nb27 but isn't the full thing. This clip isn't really useable as it messes up as Bella says her line before Hayley says hers the end. Also the audio is slightly quieter at the beginning.

nb25-
The audio at the beginning of this clip is a lot better than nb27 and nb26. However the part where Hayley says 'I was just tryna lighten the mood' is a bit too quiet so possibly making this clip unusable.

nb24-
This clip is meant to go after Cheryl has finished her story with Jeremy and Carl. The framing of this clip is done well and the audio is pretty consistent all the way through. This clip runs very smoothly overall so would definitely be a possibility to use within the final product. The laughter within the clip between the girls is very natural as well.

nb23-
This clip is unusable as the girls all start laughing as soon as the acting starts. However, the framing and quality of the clip is good.

nb22-
This clip is the same part of the episode nb27/26/25. I think that the clip is fine but not as smooth as the other ones so this may not be the right one to use.

nb20-
This clip is unusable as Flic interrupts the acting due to the positioning of the frame not being correct.

nb19-
The quality and framing of this clip is perfectly fine, however it is probably not useable as the girls get some of the lines wrong so the end isn't finished properly.

nb18-
This clip is the first scene from the nail bar. It would be fine to use, however the framing and quality of this clip isn't as good as the others above. It isn't unusable just not as good as the others.

nb16-
This clip comes after Cheryl has told part of her story between Jeremy and Carl. It can't really be used within the final episode as the girls are supposed to laugh after Cheryl says 'I can't help that all the boys want me' and without that the scene doesn't really make sense.

nb15-
This clip is a lot better than nb16, however the laughter within the scene needs to be more prominent in order for things to carry on and make sense.

nb14-
We tried something different in this clip as Bella mimics what Hannah says, the girls laugh after and Jenny says 'Alright Frankie'. After doing this we decided that the mimicking was good but Jenny just stick with just saying 'Alright guys'.

nb13-
The framing and content of this clip is really good, therefore I think that this clip is completely fine to use.

nb11-
The framing of this clip was good as it was a good over the shoulder shot but Blaze often looks at the camera and smiles/laughs therefore meaning we can't really use this clip.

nb10-
The framing and audio quality of this clip is good and nothing really goes wrong so I think that this clip would be a good one to use.

nb9-
This is the same part of the script as nb10 however Hannah slightly messes up her lines so this clip isn't needed. Also, Jenny looks down to her magazine quite a lot so its obvious that she is looking at her lines.

nb8-
This clip is not useable as it is just Hannah talking while the camera is still on.

nb7-
The first part of this clip is perfectly useable, however the girls start laughing towards the end, therefore probabaly meaning that we can't use it as this part needs to be just one shot.

nb6-
This clip is unusable as the girls all start laughing due to Blaze saying her line a lot louder than before.

nb5-
This clip is when Cheryl is explaining why she got with her lads brother. The framing and acting is all completely fine in the clip therefore meaning it would be able to be used in the final product.

nb4-
This clip is the same as nb5 and again it would be good to use in the final thing.

nb3-
This clip is the first few lines of the nail bar scene, it starts off fine and the framing is good, but Blaze drops a nail polish which causes Bella to start laughing therefore meaning we can't use this clip.

nb2-
This clip could be improved in terms of the audio but I think it would be good enough to use in the final product.

nb1-
This is just a clip of us being quiet to see if there is any background noise. This obviously won't be used in any part of the final show.

Clip 1-
This clip is unusable as it just a behind shot of Bella with laughter in the background.

nb28-
This clip is perfectly fine to use as the framing and audio is good.

nb29-
This clip is probably the best out of the few we got for this section of the nail bar scene. The audio is really good and the framing is fine. Hannah pulls a face at the end but it should be fine to edit out.

nb31-
The first part of this clip can't really be used as Hayley starts laughing. Also the audio isn't as good in this clip therefore making it less likely to be used.

nb32-
The first part of this clip is really good. The quality is very good as well as the framing and audio. Also the fact that it is a close up of the conversation between Hannah and Bella works really well.

nb36-
This clip would be good to use in the final product as the framing and audio is of a fairly high quality and the acting is all good.

nb35-
This clip is just a few seconds of in between takes, it does not need to be used.

nb34-
This clip is all fine, apart from the fact that Miss made the point that Hayley needed to be a bit louder.

nb33-
This clip is slightly too loud and the end goes wrong so it can't really be used.

ah1-
This is a mid shot/close up of George and his reaction of finding out 'Amy' is pregnant. This clip is good as the camera is set up well and the lighting is appropriate in order to convey his emotion. We ensured there was no background noise in order to make the scene as dramatic as possible-therefore this clip is definitely fit to use in the final product.

ah4-
This is a mid close up of George and Bella acting as Amy as Ryan. It is the moment when Amy tells Ryan she is pregnant. I think the positioning of the camera in this clip is very effective as we can see the reaction of both people. The lighting is also good therefore meaning that this clip can definitely be used.

ah7-
This clip is another shot of just George. The positioning and lighting is all good up until the end as George's head gets cut off when he stands up straight. Therefore this means that the start of this clip would be fine to use but the end wouldn't due to the camera positioning.

ah5-
This is a mid close up of Bella and George side profile. The lighting is slightly dark but I think that is appropriate for the content of the scene as it is quite tense. The positioning of the camera is fine as well as they are both in shot and can see their reactions clearly. The end of this clip is unusable as George hits the other camera so the filming had to stop.

ah2-
This is a clip of George coming through the kitchen door. The lighting is slightly too low and the camera positioning isn't quite right in order to capture the feeling of the scene. This clip could still be used but there are others that would be more suitable.

ah3-
This clip is a mid close up of George. The lighting and camera work is suitable for the content as it is the most tense part of the scene, therefore darker and closer footage is more suitable.

ah6-
This clip is similar to ah3. The positioning is slightly better as there is no window in the background of the shot. The lighting is again very suitable for the context of the scene, and this clip could definitely be used in the final product.

Amy's house.

LO2: Evidence of filming.

This is the scene between Cheryl, Carl and Jeremy

LO2: Setting up camera equipment.

This is some of the group setting up the camera equipment

LO1: Feedback.

LO1: Call Sheet.

Equipment need for all locations.

To film in all locations I would need:

  • Slider for HD camera
  • Sony HD Camera
  • Boom mic
  • Lighting
  • Reflectors
  • Props ( Things included in nail bar )
  • Windshield
  • DLSR Camera

Equipment of the opening scene.

For the opening scene I would need the Sony HD camera so that I would be able to film the scene, I would also need a tripod to mount the camera on. This is so that you can minimise the amount of shaking you would get if you was to do it by hand. The last thing that I would need is a Boom mic, this is so that you can capture the sound clearly from the conversation.

These are the Mood boards of what each character should look like.

This is a Mood board of what the café should look like for one of the scenes.

Lesson Review

In todays lesson I had done the Reece forms with James for two of the locations ( Bella's bedroom and Hannah's house).

LO1: Updated Script.

By

Hannah Browton, Bella Marriott, Brooke Cattell and Felicity Killoway

1. int. nail bar. day.
CHERYL, AMY, FRANKIE and STACY are all sat in the nail bar having their nails done.

NAIL TECHNICIAN
So what colours are you wanting?

AMY
Just the usual (pause) so how’s you and Carl then?

CHERYL
(Sighs) Don’t even get me started.

FRANKIE
What’s up now?

CHERYL
Well...
(whoosh SFX)
2. Int. bedroom. night
CHERYL walks into her room to see CARL on her bed. With flowers next to him. Footsteps SFX.

CHERYL
Carl what you doing here?

CARL
I thought I’d  surprise you

CHERYL
How did you get in?

CARL
(Pause) You gave me a key..

CHERYL
Ah shit yeah. Sorry it’s just been a busy day

CARL
Oh no what happened babe?

CHERYL
(Starting to panic) I don’t want to get into it. Look I think you should go

CARL
What? Is everything okay?

  CHERYL
(Long pause)Oh Carl, you’re a good lad but I need a man.

CARL
No please, I can change Cheryl, you’re the only lass I want to be with.

CHERYL
Carl, please, just go (pause) make another girl happy.

CARL
Is there someone else?

CHERYL
No Carl, it’s not like that don’t be stup-

CARL
No Cheryl I think it’s exactly like that.

Jeremy comes in the house the nose is heard from upstairs.

CARL

CHERYL
No Carl, there’s no need for this

CHERYL
They both walked out on me.
                                                (WOOSH SFX)

Cuts back to the bedroom.

CARL
How long has this been going on?

JEREMY
She said she was single

CARL
Well obviously not!

JEREMY
Just stay calm

CARL
My brother is getting with my bird, how do you expect me to stay calm?

JEREMY
I dunno, but let’s just settle this like adults.

CARL
Oh shut up moral high ground.

JEREMY
I just think.

CARL
I’m sick of you just thinking, with your qualifications and you thinking you’re better than me.

JEREMY
It’s obvious that you’re upset

CARL
You say one more word and I’ll nut yah.

CHERYL
Carl please stop.

CARL
You have no right to speak.

JEREMY
There’s no need to be rude

CARL
Right that’s it!

                                          (Fighting noises)

     Back at the nail bar.

CHERYL
Yeah so that’s what happened.

AMY
Don’t worry you’ll get another one in no time.

FRANKIE
Like you said all the guys want you

(All the girls laugh)

STACY
How about we go on a girlie night out?

FRANKIE
Oh my god yes!

CHERLY
Yeah pull all the lads!

AMY
Moving on a bit fast there Cheryl.

CHERYL
             Well you can hardly talk.

                            AMY
                     What you on about?

                           CHERYL

Last time I heard, you slept with 3 guys in a week.

                             (FRANKIE, AMY and STACY LAUGH)

                           AMY

OI it was only one guy…(pause) I just slept                with him 3 times.

                          STACY
So what’s going on with you and ‘im then?

                          AMY

                      Well…

                                               (WHOOSH SFX)

4. int. AMY’S HOUSE. NIGHT.

AMY and RYAN are sat in AMY’s bedroom.

AMY
Are you staying over, or going home later? I need to talk to you about something

RYAN
Well I’ve got my work clothes, (flirty tone) thought I could stay the night.

AMY
Right just so we’re clear (pause) this is not a relationship. But…

RYAN
Yeah, I know. I’ve actually been seeing someone else

AMY
Oh, who is she? (Pause) Actually I think you should leave

RYAN
But Amy this is what you wanted.

AMY
Don’t you tell me what I wanted! It’s complicated

RYAN
It’s been complicated for three months

AMY
Just trust me Ryan. You don’t understand

RYAN
Well then make me understand. Tell me what you want
(Silence) That’s what I thought

AMY
Ryan please

RYAN
No I’m sick of this, go find another fool

AMY
Ryan I’m…

RYAN
Spit it out then

AMY
Pregnant, I’m fucking pregnant (pause) and it’s yours if that wasn’t obvious.
(Big pause)

RYAN
Oh Amy

                                                (WOOSH SFX)

Back to nail bar.

FRANKIE
Amy you being serious

STACY
Are you sure?

AMY
I checked 3 times (starts to cry)

CHERYL
You going to keep it?

STACY
Amy, it has fingernails. Think about the colors it could have.

AMY
This is not the time to quote juno

FRANKIE
But it’s a reyt film. (Slowly hearing Amy crying)

CHERYL
Guys this is really not the time.

AMY
I guess I’ll just have to keep it.

STACY
But what about Ryan?
                                                (WOOSH SFX)
At Amy’s house.

RYAN
How long have you known?

AMY
I really don’t want to talk about it.

RYAN
Amy just tell me, don’t fuck about.

AMY
5 week’s

RYAN
I thought we used protection (Amy burst in to tears)

AMY
I dunno, it just happened.

RYAN
What are you going to do with it? (Silence) You know I’ll support you with whatever decision you make. (Further silence) you know that right? (More silence Amy sniffles) Amy please just say something.

AMY
Thank you

RYAN
So are you going to keep it?

AMY
I don’t know.

RYAN
Well it’s your decision.

AMY
Don’t put all the responsibility on me.

RYAN
It’s your fault that this has happened anyway.

AMY
How dare you. I didn’t force you.

RYAN
Whatever.

AMY
See we can’t even get our dysfunctional relationship to work, how do expect us to raise a child. It’ not like those stupid video games that you play. This is real life.

RYAN
Well I never asked for this.
                                                (WOOSH SFX)

         Back to nail bar.

CHERYL
How dare he say that?

AMY
I know, it’s fucked up.

FRANKIE
You can’t stay with him

AMY
But I think I love him.

Tune in next time to see if Amy keeps the baby.
