LO4: Final Product.

LO4: Evaluation of the episode.

Production Process:

One of the first things that was done in the group was the job roles. The job roles had a range of jobs which included all the documents for the pre-production, filming/setting up equipment and editing.

In the pre production stage there where jobs such as the call sheets, recce sheets, risk assessments and storyboards. Each person in the group did at least on thing on the pre production stage. Then there was the filming, in this some people took charge of the filming with other did the set up of the equipment like the lighting and some created the set. Some of the roles that I did where the filming and setting up of some of the equipment. After this stage there was the editing, and each person in the group was responsible for a different aspect for the editing, my personal role for the editing was the sound, some of the sound clips had different volumes and some had a high level of noise in the background.

Key Decisions:

Some of the decisions that we had to make were on the location and that casting. We had to pick locations that would be realistic for the characters in the show. When it came to filming we had to decide on what the actors where going to wear, they had to be similar to the character profiles that we had created.,

Changes: 

Throughout the filming, different factors needed to be changed such as the lighting used. This was mainly a problem when filming the clips for the title sequence as we had some issues with the lights and the green screen. We also had to make some location changes when filming due to original ideas not being able to be carried out. This caused us to have to change the structure of the scene a little but we all pulled together to make it work.We also had issues with the sound as when we came to edit we became aware of the bad hiss throughout and some parts were quieter than others. People within the group then used Adobe audition to correct the sound as best as we could. 

Quality:
As previously stated, the quality of the sound at first wasn't very good which resulted in members of the group working on Adobe Audition to make it better. We ensured that the only cameras we used were the 4K or the Sony HD camera in order to get the best possible visual quality with the equipment we had. On the majority of the filming sessions, we had a 3 camera set up in order to get each persons perspective, also this saves time as it means we only have to run through the scene a few times instead of changing the camera positions and re-filming all the time.

Comparison:
Our original intentions did reflect the outcome of the programme just as we expected. However, it did take a few re-films to achieve the product we intended to create. The script and storyboard both followed the end product, with a few minor adjustments due to complications when filming, and I feel that the episode is to a high standard and looks professional for TV. 

Target Audience:
The actors tried their best to stick to their character profiles and tried to add accents where possible in order to stay within the predominantly Yorkshire target audience. Also the themes presented throughout the episode and the way they are presented cause it to be suitable for the younger woman target audience that we originally had. Also, we thought that the use of the location of the nail bar would appeal more to our target audience as it was a proper nail bar, therefore looking more realistic. The show is going to be aired in the late evening, after the watershed therefore meaning that the script had to comply to that.

Areas for Improvement:
I feel that if we were to create another episode, we would have to ensure that camera quality was to the best standard, especially when it comes to sound as we had quite a few problems in post production. I think that the strengths from creating this product have been the organisation and the following the ideas from pre production clearly in order to create a high standard production. We all worked together to create the final product and I believe it has been very successful overall. We have put many hours into editing the episodes to ensure that they have ended up being of high quality and follow the generic conventions of a TV show. I think that the main weakness has been the sound quality and ensuring each section has the same levels. However since using Adobe Audition, this problem has been overcome.

LO3: Offline edit.

The first shot used within this offline edit will probably need to be changed due to it being shaky and of of general low quality. The clips used in the nail bar scene are all usuable, but it might be good to add some more to vary the shot type. Also, there are points in the nail bar, as well as other parts of the episode, where the audio will need some work due to it being too loud/quiet. When it comes to the scene between Hannah and Matt, the clips are generally in the correct place, we were thinking that we would add an effect to the clips and a transition between scenes in order to signify the flashback. The same would be applied to the scene with Bella and George as that is also a flashback. When Matt punches Reece, we will need to dub the sound and add a punch sound effect in order to make it more realistic. The overall feel of this offline edit is what we are wanting to achieve in the final episode, there are just some editing techniques that need to be added and some clips that may need to be swapped round.
